AUSSIE PREDATOR |
|
OWNER: Global Pyrotechnics - Monster Madness - Warren Kruger VEHICLE: Combination Chevrolet cab with Ford F-series pick-up bed. ENGINE: Naturally aspirated Chevrolet V8 Aussie Predator was imported from the United States by Global Pyrotechnics and made its Australian debut in 2001. Previously known in the US as Dream Master, the truck was overhauled at the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. The overhaul mostly included cosmetic repairs, such as repainting the chassis and applying new graphics. Other significant additions were a rear wing that originally came off a sprint car, and a complete replacement of the back bed from a Chevrolet one, to a Ford F-series; this was done as there were no other fibreglass Chevy beds readily available. One special highlight of Aussie Predators career would come on 3rd November 2001, at the Brisbane International Speedway, where famous Queensland ex-footballer, Trevor Gillmeister, impressed fans and drivers alike when he launched the truck higher and further than anyone thought both he and the truck were capable of. His performance that night also saw him take the win in a best-of-three battle of the sexes monster truck racing challenge, that was subsequently featured on Australian national television. The Aussie Predator would continue touring under the Global Pyrotechnics banner until 2003, where it was then sold on to another promoter called Monster Madness, based out of Ipswich, Queensland.
Rich wrote, "Here is another truck from Australia. Note the wing. He was told it was formerly named Gladiator, but I am not sure if it was built in Australia or, bought from the USA." Thanks for the picture and info, Mark Hurley and Richard Scott. |
